"What?"

I've gotten the question asked me over the years ( "How are you doing?" And questions that get at the same thing)
but over the years only a handful of people have actually been interested in listening to what I have to say.
most people as soon as I start to tell them about what they asked, someone else comes up or they lose interest and wave at someone that just caught there eye, and they never get the chance to hear my answer to there question and yet they don't seem to mind to much.

I don't know whether it is a gift or a curse for me, I try to listen to what the person I'm talking with has to say even if it's about something that I have no clue what they are talking about or if I don't even like what they are talking about, but I listen to it (random venting's, out bursts of thoughts, mindless chat about things of this world, meaningful conversations...etc)
but people always come up to me and start talking, soo I listen.
I can go stand somewhere with a couple of people and soon I find myself yet again listening to the person talking.

I guess people just like to hear the sound of there voice most of the time.
cause whenever I try to voice my opinion they just keep talking.

when I was younger I had a friend who was really truly interested in how I was doing, repeatedly, not just when I was looking sad or depressed, but when I was happy he'd ask me how I was doing, and he'd listen and pay attention, and be glad that I was doing good or try to make me laugh at all the random crazy stuff that he did if i was feeling down. (Weird Al Karaoke does wonders in an empty sanctuary while everyone else is try to play hide and seek :D lol )

God has given me two ears and one mouth.
I seem to do more listening then talking all the time, but hey two over one, two is greater then one so shouldn't two have more dominance over one?
if that's the case then we should listen twice as much as we talk.
not always the case but hey people are people.

The question I get lately (that I'm perfectly fine with) and I've gotten it from quite a few people that I know (family and friends of different ages) is "did you bring your xbox?"
I mean hey at least whoever asks the question is listening to my answer.

Love

What does the word really mean?
it has so many meanings it's kinda sad.
now a days we think of it as "oh he/she loves me!"
in a romantic sort of way, which is true to a point but is that really the meaning of the word?

When we read that God so "loved" the world, what do we think then... I would say that we don't think of the romantic love and that one in the same way, but I could be wrong.

So many times I myself, have cringed at the sound of "I love you"
(probably because I was thinking of the "mushy" meaning of the word, as young children do :) ) but still, now that I am beginning to understand the "Real" meaning of the word it's not mushy at all!

but it makes me sad to see others who still see love as this thing that is interchangeable from "God's love" and "Romantic love"...hmm

I think that they, are and should be, one in the same.
because Paul said "Husbands love your wives just as Christ Loves the church"

now why would Paul say that?

Let's face it our romantic idea of "love" is a pretty far downgrade from "God's love"
that's where I think we miss the mark!
that's why we see God's love and our love for other people in two different ways, when in fact this is what love really is

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

that is what "Love" is

Lust

Now there is a word that we don't use to often now isn't it!

Lust.
so many times I think we mistake love for lust , especially when it comes to relationships.

whether it be friends or friends with "potential"
I think we sometimes think of lust as love, (maybe even without knowing it?)and that's bad!

Why would we want to take something that is so right in God's eyes (Love) and turn it into something wrong (Lust)

I mean come on!

Lust is a desire, a craving for something. (not usually a craving or desire for God)

These lyrics say alot of what I think about this.
they're from DC talk (Say the Words)

The word love
Well it was once over-used
Back in the'70's the word was abused
But I refuse
to let love be diluted
We can't allow physical lust to intrude it
Or pollute it 'cause there ain't no excuse
For the greatest gift of all to be abused
So choose to lose the pride that may tug at you
Don't be afraid of the words "I love you"
